What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember choices you have made, and to measure how a site is used.
What this site uses
This website uses one third-party script — Google Analytics 4, loaded from googletagmanager.com — and functional cookies for site staff. It does not use advertising cookies, remarketing or social media tracking scripts. The social media icons in the header are plain links, not tracking embeds.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics (Google LLC) | Distinguishes users so visits and sessions can be counted. | 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics (Google LLC) | Distinguishes users. | 24 hours |
| _ga_G-8E2YBMGQW3 | Google Analytics (Google LLC) | Site-specific user identifier for our Analytics property. | 2 years |
| wordpress_logged_in*, wp-settings*, wp_test_cookie and similar | This site (WordPress) | Only for logged-in staff and administrators: staying signed in, editor preferences and security checks. Visitors who are not logged in do not receive these cookies. | Session to a few days |
How the analytics works. Google Analytics 4 is loaded through gtag.js. It produces aggregate statistics about how the site is used (for example, which guides are read and where visitors come from). It does not store full IP addresses, it is not used for advertising, and it does not build a personal profile of you. Usage events we record (such as a contact form being submitted) carry no name or email address. We do not link analytics data to the contact details you give us in an enquiry.
Performance and security. Our server and content delivery layer may use cookies or similar identifiers to cache pages, keep the site available and block abusive traffic. Our anti-spam protection for enquiry forms runs server-side and does not set tracking cookies on visitors.
What we do not use. No advertising or retargeting cookies, no social media tracking scripts, no third-party profiling.
Controlling cookies
- You can delete or block cookies at any time in your browser settings. Blocking all cookies may affect how forms and other parts of the site behave.
- To stop Google Analytics specifically, you can install Google’s opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Blocking or deleting the analytics cookies above stops measurement of your visits to this site.
- Common browsers — Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge — provide cookie controls under their privacy or site-data settings.
